Car Insurance on Rentals

If you travel to Denmark you may find yourself in need of transport. Many Danes take the bike. But if you want a car you can either rent or buy a car. If you are staying for a longer period of time, the cheapest option may be to buy a car. Renting a car in Denmark can be quite expensive. But if you want to rent a car you should remember the insurance, or Bilforsikringen, as they say in Denmark.

Rental Insurance

insurance The reality is that majority of individuals do not study insurance contracts, especially rental insurance or car rental and there is a huge lack of data in connection to consumers and what is contained in their personal insurance contracts.

Among the issues that this shortage of data presents is that it can cause wastage of cash. Each time you rent a vehicle you are questioned on the type of insurance you want. In general, the options are not to take any, which does not incur any expense. Alternatively, you could take liability cover which costs around $10 each day.

You then have access to a range of options to cover the rental car itself. The costs range from one firm to another and state to state. The comprehensive  coverage option, that is inclusive of passengers, liability and the rental car normally amounts to around $25 to $30 each day. Majority of individuals are truly unaware of the options they need to select.

Liability

According to the law, the only insurance you should take out is Liability insurance. Each of the others is not obligatory. That is the initial and most vital element to keep in mind when you visit the rental desk, as well as the overall cost for your two-week holiday car is fast increasing.

The other factor you should be aware of is that in a lot of instances, you shall obtain cover from you present car insurance, to some level. To verify, you should examine your insurance policy, comparing with their personal car insurance. This will be transferred to the rental car.

But, it is not likely that full or comprehensive coverage shall be transferred from your personal car insurance. The reason is that comprehensive insurance is computed according to your car’s worth.

It is not the wish of insures to be in a circumstance where they fix your policy depending on your for instance, $15,000 car and then need to reimburse when you crash a rental of $40,000. Therefore, your policy shall show that just liability insurance is offered when you rent.

Credit Card Cover

But, it may still not be necessary for you to obtain insurance from the rental firm. The reason is that a lot of credit card firms, such as Visa and MasterCard provide this insurance if you submit payment for the rental using one of their cards. This is a great advantage when a credit card is used and should not be utilized. As mentioned, you need to consult your credit card supplier about the cover they offer.

However, the essence is, if liability is covered by your personal insurance and rental car is covered by your credit card, why pay $200 for additional insurance when you already have a cover?

In case you are uncertain about your insurance, it is advisable however, to take the policy of the rental company, particularly liability when on vacation.

You can try these rental agencies:

Avis

Hertz

Sixt

Europcar
